Recent internal data shows $478 million in land and rural property for sale for sale in the Wolverine State. This represents a combined 138,960 acres of land for sale in the state. The most expensive land listed for sale on Lands of America recently was $7 million, although the median price for land, homesites and other rural acreage for sale in Michigan came in at $223,222. The average price of land and other rural acreage for sale in Michigan was $330,608. There was 1,565 acres of sold land in Michigan recorded in May 2018 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects an increase in sales activity over data from April 2018. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $4.7 million. Along with public hunting lands, Michigan boasts over two million acres of private land managed as commercial forest for hunters to track white-tailed deer, elk, bear, grouse and more. Bounded by four Great Lakes, it's fair to say the fishing ain't bad and either. As befits a state with excellent hunting for big and small game like deer, waterfowl and wild turkey, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in Michigan. U.S. News & World Report ranks Michigan as one of the country's top ten states for its cost of living. Of the 83 counties in Michigan, Marquette County had the most land and rural real estate for sale. In terms of size, Michigan is the country's 11th-largest state, covering an area of 96,810 square miles (62 million acres). In its entirety, 56,539 square miles (58 percent) covers land area, while the remaining 40,175 square miles comprises water.
